Review:
Beautiful and innocent Vicki Carpenter seems a shoo-in for Prom Queen. But Mary Lou Maloney, dead for thirty years, also wants the crown and returns from the grave to possess Vicki’s body. After butchering Vicki’s friends, Mary Lou successfully transports panic-stricken Vicki into a hellish purgatory. With the competition out of the way, hell-bent and armed with deadly powers, Mary Lou’s got places to go…people to kill… and a crown to win.
Prom Night II is clever with humor and class. This sequel totally ignores everything from the original. This time the killer is Mary Lou who returns from the grave to kill. PN 2 ain’t really a slasher, is much more a supernatural. The film has a lot of elements from A Nightmare on Elm Street, Carrie and The Exorcist. For example there are a lot of imaginary stuff like in A.N.O.E.S. and a wooded horse with a tongue like Freddy’s tongue in the phone in A.N.O.E.S. Vicki is kind like “Carrie” because she is shy, she’s been molested by the school tramp and has a religious mother. Well anyway the movie is good, better than I expected but it could had been much better if it was more original and if it had more deaths. Atleast this movie isn’t dark like “Prom Night” in which you can’t appreciate the deaths but in this one you can. This one also has some boring scenes like the original but around the last 30 minutes it gets really cool especially at the prom. Yeah she kills some people in the prom a la “Carrie” but “Carrie” is way superior than this. The movie has a lot of good special effects and creepy scenes. Oh well the movie is interesting and is a good installment to the series.
Acting:
Wendy Lyon (Vicky) is the winner here, she acts good and steals the show portraying the main character. Lisa Schrage(Mary Lou) she does a decent job even though she doesn’t talk much and she gets into real action around the last 15minutes of the film. The rest of the cast are dumb.
Soundtrack:
Tunes from the a 50’s like “Tutti Frutti” and the song called “Mary Lou” which is played a lot in the film.
Gore:
All the deaths are goreless except the one of “Josh” electrocuted by the computer. But you get to see a girl sophicated which is the first death and a girl squashed in a locker by the other lockers really cool death in which the killer uses telekinesis here. We see Mary Lou burning to death and at the prom she appears really cool all burned up, decent effects there.
T!ts & @ss:
Wendy Lyon shows it all front, top and behind and she seriously needs to trim her thing.
Afterall:
The movie is fun it entertains, but I most point that it has some boring scenes. The movie is a good installment to the series because it has special effects and a good plot. That Mary Lou chick is hot! Ignore the people that say this movie sucks because it doesn’t the movie is not that bad as some critics say. The reason I gaved the movie that rating is because it wasn’t original and it is pretty cheesy. I recommend it if you like the original and like cheesy effects and entertainment.
Any thoughts or comment?
