This is from my site www.horror-domain.com , I know many will disagree but ohwell. Oh yeah I gave this film a 2.5 out of 5.
Story: Jason's been frozen for over 400 years, now he has been unfrozen on a spaceship, and is going on a killing rampage.
Thoughts: Jason X opens with a group of people that have Jason Vorhees captures. But Jason escapes and kills all of them except one women. She is then chased through the building by Jason, until she traps him in a freezing chamber. Unfortunately she is in there as well, and the doors slam shut locking her and Jason in there.
Now over 400 years later a team from a spaceship have landed on the planet, and find the women's frozen body along with Jason's. Thinking they could make some profit off of the two by unfreezing them and bringing them back to life, they decide to take them on board.
They first unfreeze the women, who is resurrected fast. Then it's time for Jason, but that's another story. Jason wakes up and starts killing off the people on the ship. Now they have to run for there lives, and try and kill him, if only they could, if only....
Jason X has been a long time in waiting, horror fans have been waiting patiently for a long time now. From delay's from New Line, along with others things it's been a rough ride but finally it's here. Besides the wait, this film has also been hyped up very well. Sadly Jason X turns out to be a disappointment.
After waiting so long, and wanting to see this film I really wanted to like it, but the horrible dialogue, the stupid characters and the non stop killing just don't do it. Sure you are thinking Jason going on a rampage and killing over 20 people sounds good, but it's not. Most of the kills are very basic, except for a guy who gets cut in half and of course the infamous head smashing scene.
We have to sit through over an hour of just non stop killing, and stupid characters that think they know everything. After that the wait for Uber Jason to appear is on, and when he does things pick up. Before seeing this I thought the Uber Jason idea was stupid, but to my surprise I dug it quite a bit. But sadly, even when Jason becomes "Uber Jason" he still isn't as menacing as past films. The creators got a good concept with "Uber Jason", but don't do much with it. Sure in a way he seems pretty bad ass, but he doesn't seem all that strong and menacing.
Now as much as I liked "Uber Jason", I still wanted the old Jason back. I also didn't really dig the whole space theme, I guess I still wanted the good ole' Crystal Lake setting. While the space ship setting may be good for a change, I still wanted the old setting.
The last few installment in the F13 series have been a downfall for the series. "Jason Takes Manhattan", "Jason Goes To Hell" and now "Jason X" , makes us wonder if there is any life left in the franchise after all. Sure I loved seeing Jason again, but I am sorry to say it look's as if the franchise is going down. Of course they are planning 3 more sequels after this, and I still haven't decided if that's a good thing or a bad thing. Jason X seemed like one more chance to resurrected the series from the dreadful last 2 films, but didn't do justice.
On a good note Jason X can be entertaining, I admit it I had a smile on my face, happy that Jason was back. The fun factor is definitely there sometimes, but not enough. A notable scene that I dug allot was when they did a delusion for Jason, that had him back in Crystal Lake in the 80's, with two hot chicks that get naked and ask him if he wants to smoke some pot and have a little sex, of course Jason finishes them off. But it was funny how they mocked the older F13 films, it was definitely a high point in the film.
With Jason X it raises an interesting question, what's going to happen in part 11? Will it still be in the future, will there be "Uber Jason", if not what will happen? Not just that but it also raises interesting questions about the upcoming "Jason Vs. Freddy" film. Whatever the answer may be, I hope it turns out better ten Jason X.
Bottom Line: It's been a long wait and now it's here, but Jason X just turns out to be a let down. A few high points, but to many bad to recommend this.
