Angel 4/29/02

Spoilers for those of you who haven't yet seen it.

This was a pretty good episode.  It kind of reminded me of The Faculty though.  I don't think there is really much need for episodes like this one late in the season though, I think they should have brought Connor back at the beginning and let everything take its coarse, but then again next week is going to explain everything perfectly.  It was good to see Wes in this episode, but I don't think he's going to be joining them up until next season, or maybe he'll help Angel stop Connor.

Next week's episode looks like it's going to be great.  Connor is back and he is out to get Angel.  I'm really looking forward to seeing how this season turns out.

I just kind of gave a brief summary of what happened.

The episode opens with Angel and the crew cleaning the room where Connor used to stay.  Fred and Gru try  to get him to change the color of the walls so that it isn't as depressing.  Angel decides he needs to get a case because they haven't had one in almost 2 weeks and he figures it'll help him get his mind off of his son.  Well a guy walks in wanting Angel to help him find his dog.  Angel and the crew are upstairs and don't hear him coming in, though Angel was on his way to the lobby anyway.  Well while the man is in there the guy is asking if anyone was there.  Soon he figures he'll leave because he doesn't think anyone is there and this little slug thing jumps onto his face and goes into his mouth.  Angel then gets downstairs and asks the man how he can help him.  The man looks at him and says "We have to go"  "We are thirsty."

Angel figures that the circle thing he drew on the floor to get Connor back scared the guy off.  That night Lorne comes in saying there is a disturbance at a resturaunt down the street.  They head over there and Angel recognizes the guy, it's the guy from earlier.  The guy is drinking everything they have in that store.  Angel walks up to him and the guy tries to attack Angel but Angel punches him in the face and knocks him out.  They take him back to the hotel and lay him on a couch.  They don't know what's wrong with him, but he seems to be falling apart.  Soon the guy wakes up, points at Angel and says "This is all your fault."  Once he says this he falls to pieces on the floor and the slug thing comes out of him and runs off.

They discover that what the man meant by this was that since Angel tried black magic to get his son back this was the result, kind of like in the second episode of Buffy in Season 6 when something came back with her.  Well they close the doors and windows and everything so that they are locked inside with the slug and they pull out swords and axes trying to hunt it down.  They split up in groups of twos and go, while Gunn and Fred stay in the office looking up for ways to get rid of these things.  Angel and Lorne end up finding the slug drinking the water out of a toilet, they stab it but it gets away.

Meanwhile Cordy and Gru are in another room and there is one on the wall.  Gru is about to stab it, but Cordy turns around and attacks it.  She misses and it runs away.  They open a door and run into Angel and Lorne.  That is when they discover that there are more than one of those slugs.

They discover that they need to turn off all the lights so that they can see the slugs because the slugs glow in the dark.  Gunn goes into the basement and turns the power off.  

Fred and Gunn are back in the office to look for how to stop these things when Gunn steps out of a second.  When he does Fred gets attacked by a slug and it gets inside her.  Gunn comes back in and finds her and he takes her to Angel.

While all this is going on at the hotel, Lilah discovers that because of her helping Angel to get the black magic she will get in trouble with the senior partners for those things killing Angel.  So she decides to help Angel get rid of those slugs.  She calls in someone that can get rid of them, but once they leave the law office they aren't seen again for the rest of the episode.  They weren't that important anyway.

Once Gunn brings Fred to Angel Gunn says they need to take her to the hospital, but Angel says that if they do that the slugs will have more people to feed on.  Gru starts to hear some kind of sound and doesn't know where it's coming from.  They end up in this room and Gru discovers that the sound is coming from underneath the floor.  Gru raises the axe and chops into the floor while Angel does so with the sword.  There they find hundreds of those slugs.  The slugs come running out after them and they lock themselves into a kitchen.  While inside Fred discovers that Gunn is gone.  Soon Fred starts to tell Angel about what is going on and what these things.  Angel talks to the thing inside of Fred.  The thing inside of Fred tells Angel that they are running from this thing called The Destroyer, and they say that the Destroyer is coming for Angel.  Soon Fred is still drinking water and she can't help it.  She will end up like the man earlier in the episode if they can't get the thing out of her.

Meanwhile since Gunn left he went to Wes's place.  There Wes told him "I nearly bled to death and I couldn't turn to anyone, not even my closest friends.  And they don't want to give me a chance and listen to my side of the story.  I will help you since it's Fred, but don't come around here again, any of you."  Wes gives Gunn a bottle of alcohol.

Soon Gunn is back in the hotel where Lorne and Gru are taking Fred out.  They want to bring her to the hospital because there they can keep water in her.  Gunn grabs her and makes her drink the alcohol.  

Meanwhile Angel and Cordy are filling the kitchen with water.  They figured that it would be a good idea while they got Fred out of here to give the slugs what they wanted.  Well, one of the slugs jumps up onto Cordy's hand.  Cordy seems to freeze and she starts to glow.  Soon the entire hotel is filled with the glow of Cordy and all th slugs are gone.  Gunn makes Fred drink enough alcohol that she throws up the slug.  The glow kills that one too.  

Later they are all sitting in the lobby talking when Fred remembers about The Destroyer.  They all turn towards that circle drawn on the floor and this huge creature comes through a portal.  We think that is The Destroyer, but something else comes through a second later, this other thing is a young boy around the age of 15.  He raises up some weapon and kills the monster.  He then turns towards Angel and points his arm at Angel.  On The Destroyer's arm is the thing that shoots 3 things, I'm guessing they shoot stakes.  Well he points it at Angel and goes "Hey Dad."

Then the episode ends.
