Some more news has surfaced today regarding 'The Riding of the Laddie', a movie we've earlier reported to be a sequel to 'The Wicker Man', but more on that later.
Ewan McGregor is now in talks to star opposite Christopher Lee in the film, which unfortunately we know very little about. The movie will be directed by 'Wicker Man' helmer Robin Hardy, making this the first movie the man's directed in many, many years. Good to know he still has some pull.
Hardy is now disputing the claims of Variety and many other movie news reporting outlets that 'Riding' is a remake/sequel to 'Wicker Man'. He's saying it has nothing to do with 'Wicker', only that it's in the same vein as the 1973 cult classic. It does feature two born-again Christians (they didn't get it right the first time, apparently), but that's the cap of knowledge we have concerning the plot.
With the public's renewed interest in Lee as a serious badass, and now the ponderings of McGregor to star with him, we could be looking at a fairly high-profile project. We'll give you more when we get more, don't worry.
thanx to the ever awesome CC
