Now as you all know The Texas Chainsaw Massacre is getting remade, such a horrible thought.  I am sure you all have heard how Michael Bay, the director of Pearl Harbor who is now directing the remake to TCM, he wants it as a toned down version of the original, where he doesn't want all the gore.  Um, I'm not sure what movie he saw but I surely don't remember much of any gore in the original.  Well to make matters worse, check it out for yourselves, but he has cast Ryan Phillippe as the role of Leatherface.  You all might remember Ryan Phillippe from the movies I Know What You Did Last Summer and Cruel Intentions.  Click the link below for all the details.

I'm not going to get good reputation for saying it, but I don't mind there being a remake of "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre," because as you can tell that's mostly what they have been doing is remaking movies. I mean not all the time, there are still some good original horror movies being made, but I don't think it's a bad idea remaking it.

As for Ryan Phillippe ... cute. Yes. But too young to play leatherface, I think. You know what I mean? Maybe someone more hefty and more older. Someone who's been around. Just my opinion.

But as Chucky once said in "Bride of Chucky" ... A true classic never goes out of style.

The remake of The Texas Chainsaw will never, ever outlive the original movie. Look at the remake of Psycho, followed the original quite well, and it had its flaws. But it didn't succeed like the original.

im totally against this remake, but im not against phillipe as an actor.  hmmm maybe it might take a lot for him to portray leatherface, but he might be able to pull it off, i just hope that his involvement in the film doesnt turn this into a crappy scream dawsons creek i know what you did last piece of shit type of film, but im sure that will inevitably happen.

take it from me, who has had a huge background in theatre and acting, ryan p. is not a bad actor, but he does fall into that awful genre that i mentioned above.  but it might be worth our while.

i also agree with what kristina is saying, Gunnar Hansen (Original Leatherface) was like 6'5 230lbs and the character will lose its integrity when the much smaller phillipe plays him.

Yeah, that's exactly what I'm saying I think they need someone who would actually fit the original Leatherface character. Someone with the same integrity, and look, so to speak.

I think Ryan Phillippe is a good actor, but maybe alittle bit to young and small for the part.

Yeah, that's what I meant.  Ryan Phillippe is too small, sure he said he's going to gain 30 pounds, but Gunner was huge.  Phillippe may be better in the role of one of the guys driving the van, I forget their names.  But as for Leatherface, I really don't think so.  They should have just gotten Gunner back.

I for one am nearly praying that this catastrophe is ended before it goes too far.Please pull the plug now.Bad idea, bottom line.This movie couldnt and shouuldnt be remade ever.A small Leatherface???I didnt think it could get any worse then the pussy that played him in that God-awful next generation flick they made.Yuuuck.Just please leave it be.Lerave the original the dignity it deserves.
