Thanks to Playboy for making me think of this topic.
So is anyone here into these type of movies? I'm not really a fan of them myself, but I did like Platoon, Full Metal Jacket and Saving Private Ryan. I admit that I've never actually sat through the entire classics - The Deer Hunter and Apocalypse Now. I'm probably missing out and will have to correct that some day.

You really don't know the whole story of the vietnam war until you see The Deer Hunter and Apocolpse Now. Out of the Platoon, Full Maetal Jacket and Private Ryan, I Liked Full Metal the best. I hated Private Ryan.
Check out the classics Man, you'll love em.

I've heard Pearl Harbor bombed...no pun intended, but I'll probably rent it some night anyways. Another one I really liked was King Rat (also a great book), but that was more about the prison camp than combat. I got an A plus on a book report in 8th grade on this after convincing the teacher I was capable of reading and understanding it. Playboy, I swear I'll try Jacob's Ladder again some day And about Ryan, didn't you like the first beach scenes Dweller? I thought they were very realistic like the critics said. But all in all it wasn't as good as the other two I thought. I will try The Deer Hunter again for sure some day. I'm a Walken and Deniro fan.

Yes, the beach scene in Private Ryan was very realistic, filled with action and drama. I liked the way, Speilberg coated the scene with a dry old fasioned color scheme, which worked well for the world war 1 movie.
It died out so much after that though. The story line was a bit interesting, but it failed so much as great war flick.

apocalypse now was a great film, the book heart of darkness was to say the least not a fun book to read.
